Gentleman Jack Whisky Review – Master of Malt

Gentleman Jack whisky – Master of Malt
Gentleman Jack whisky – Master of Malt

What does it take to turn Daniel’s whisky into a Gentleman Jack?

Well, for starters, it gets 2nd sugar maple charcoal filtering… and that is it! Sure they might choose little better barrels that might have aged in little more premium spots in the rick house, but that is pure conjecture, and honestly, it is just the 2nd filtering that turns Gentleman Jack whisky into a Gentleman.

Jack Daniels – Master of Malt gets its first sugar maple charcoal filtration right after it comes out of the still before it gets put into the whisky barrel. Likewise, gentleman Jack whiskey gets a secondary purification after it comes out of the barrel and is on its way to being bottled.

The primary purpose is to remove any further impurities, reduce the oak touch and further mellow and sweeten the whisky.

The outcome is quite very noticeable. Tasted side by side, I love the Gentleman Jack whisky a bit more than old No. 7. It’s cleaner and smoother, there’s less rawness to it, and sweet bourbon-like notes come out more.

However, this refinement comes at a cost; part of that cost is excitement.

It is slightly boring, and I am missing a few of the rough charred characteristics in JD7 to help balance out the intensely sweet flavors in this Gentleman Jack whisky bottle.

Then there is the actual monetary cost.

At about 2x the price tag of regular jack, it is just not worth it, and there’s a slew of whisky I would instead purchase for a similar price or even less.

Gentleman Jack whisky – Master of Malt

As with most whiskies, Gentleman Jack Daniel starts with a fermented mash of 80 percent corn, 12 percent rye, and 8 percent malted barley.

As a sour mash, the yeast utilized in every batch is pulled from the old collection, a procedure that maintains the linage of the yeast and is said to keep a more consistent product.

When distilled, the spirit is filtered via a ten-foot stack of charcoal produced from sugar maple trees.

This filtering procedure removes impurities and some of the harsher flavoring elements from the spirit, a process the company calls mellowing and referred to as the Lincoln County Procedure.

After filtered, the spirit is stored in fresh production oak barrels and aged for an extended period, though the packaging does not claim the actual time of the liquid inside – so there is no way to know how long it sat on those oak barrels.

Once aged to perfection, the spirit is tested, and a few barrels are picked to go through a 2nd charcoal filtering.

These double-filtered bottles are then packaged as Gentleman Jack whisky.

Packaging

The bottle of Gentleman Jack whisky is a somewhat radical departure from the norm of Daniel’s.

Instead of the square bottle, they opted for a flask-like design that tapers outwards from the base and then rolls inwards with a soft slopping shoulder.

The tag is also improved, sporting a metallic silver background and black lettering.

The open space is what I love the most about this Gentleman’s Jack whisky bottle.

Instead of covering the whole thing with a tag, they let the whisky inside shine, showing that beautiful risk amble shade.

Eye

At a quick look, the dual charcoal mellowed whisky seems appealing both in the bottle and glass.

It takes on the face of wheat color in the mirror and a dark golden shade in the bottle. Overall, its color is lighter than the old NO.7!

Nose

Wow, spicy nose with caramel, charred oak, and a little aniseed.

The primary smell to hit whisky drinkers is that of confected bananas.

Besides, it has an odor that mimics a modest hone, followed by graham cracker sweetness, crushed peanuts, and uncooked rice.

Others argue Gentleman Jack whisky is malt forward and sugar drink accented with flowers, nuts, and minimal alcohol. However, I smelled something near the more profound, almost metallic element and some minty notes.

Fruit notes seem absent, but swirling releases the honey and vanilla sweetness.

The grain husk and below-baked bread cannot miss out.

Palate

This is on the simple side in terms of the complexity of the flavors. However, you’ll immediately taste its gentle honey and caramel.

A dash of pepper, mint, and wood might also be noticed.

Chewing boosts the flavors, arousing little sweetness from honey and vanilla, supplemented with gummy mint, peanuts, pepper, macadamia nuts, corn, and burnt food. Slight fruitiness appears late.

But again, you might be reaching to find some complex flavors.

Feel

I like the term smooth. The Gentleman Jack is exceptionally soft. So much so that it has a silky and oily feel.

In addition, since it’s only 80 proof, you will only experience a slight burn.

Over time, I have tried Gentleman Jack whisky in Tennessee, and I admit that Gentleman Jack’s whisk is proper in the middle.

Finish

Roasty and toasty finish, also you’ll notice notes of caramswiftnilla corn are very much dominant here, but it’s very fast.

There is plenty of citruses and slight spice, but overall it does not linger around.

Conclusion

Gentleman Jack whisky is smoother if a No. 7 Black tag is smooth.

You can imagine how it feels to melt it with some ice after work.

While it is more sophisticated, the brand’s sweetness is on the next level.

It is charcoal mellowed twice, a distinct function that sets it apart from others. As an outcome, the whiskey fanatics acquire a drinkable bottle worth your money.

If you want to try some new things, try Gentleman Jack whisky – master of malt, and you will notice a classic malt flavor.

Though the scents and flavors reveal a subtle difference from No.7, it also works very well in any cocktail.

Pick up a bottle and enjoy the proper smoothness. Cheers!
